Many of us Americans are impatient people.
We decide we want something and that means we have to have it NOW.
This explains the reason for the average credit card debt being close to $9000, people over-extending themselves to buy bigger and nicer cars than they can really afford, and so on.
The same theory holds true for losing weight.
New Year?s is just days away as I write this and people are going to be making their resolutions.
Of course, the most popular one, year after year, is losing weight.
People decide for whatever reason that they need to lose weight, usually for the sake of their looks and not to become more healthy.
They expect to lose 20 pounds by February 1st because there are hundreds of products out there that say it is possible.
People spend millions of dollars a year on FAD diets.
What is the hottest diet of the year, Adkins, South Beach? People join Jenny Craig or Weight Watchers and spend money on their food, because the programs only work with their food.
How convenient!
So, are they telling you that you will need to stay on their diets/programs for the rest of your life or you will get fat again?
I could fill this article with numerous statistics and facts to show you why it is important to lose weight.
There is the ever popular heart disease, increased risk of cancer and many more.
The problem is, people know why they should lose weight and don?t need the stats to explain it.
The most important thing they need to realize is, they need to do it for themselves.
We are put on this Earth with only two guarantees, 1)life, 2) death.
While we are living we need to maximize what time we have.
Our body is our biggest resource and our biggest tool in life.
People take better care of their cars or furniture in their homes than they do their bodies.
Cars and furniture can be replaced, a human life cannot be.
So now you have decided to take your health seriously.
Which diet, out of the hundreds, do you chose?
The answer is none of them.
A healthy life is not about diets, it is about changing your lifestyle.
It is about common sense.
It is about putting down that bag of Doritos at 10 pm for that late night snack.
It is about exercise.
It is about the combination of a sensible diet and exercise.
If you do change your lifestyle and eat better and smarter, along with some moderate exercise, you will lose weight and become healthier.
And, you will do it cheaper than if you splurge on the latest FAD diet.
If all these diets were so good, why don?t they stick around long?
The answer is, someone out there is trying to make some money off people by convincing them they have the cure for losing weight.
They have the best diet, or some magical fat burning pill, or some belt that you wrap around you that burns fat.
Don?t waste your money on these schemes designed to make someone else rich.
You will need your money for the new clothes you will have to buy when you lose weight.

Benefits of Dog Training, Socialization and Exercise
by: Susie Aga
I would like to share my professional opinion on the benefits of dog training. Through training you will build a strong lifelong bond between you and your dog. A well-behaved dog is more likely to become an active member of your family. Well-socialized, trained dogs make it easy for you to take them on vacations, to parks, and on visits to family members? homes without it being stressful for either of you. Training requires consistency, motivation and timing. The main thing most people do not realize is that the training is for the owner as well as the dog. Dogs cannot think like we do, but we can surely think like them; we just need to learn how. Dogs are pack animals, and in their pack there is always a leader, the Alpha. We just need to understand how to become an alpha. Communication is the key. The alpha dictates everything to the pack; she/ he will teach boundaries as well as...

No Time For Exercise? Try This!
No Time For Exercise? Try This!
by: Steven Barnes
?Fitness? is an elusive term covering a vast array of attributes: flexibility, cardiovascular endurance, muscular endurance, strength, power, balance, coordination, body-fat percentage and more. While its generally accepted that multiple 30-60 minute sessions per week are optimal for producing results, the truth is that it?s possible to do a great amount in far less time.
EVERYONE has five minutes a day?the only question is, can anything really useful be done in just 300 seconds?
The answer is a resounding ?yes?, but we need choose our exercises carefully. If there is such a limited amount of time, the best choice is to pick the most important muscle group. Chest? Back? Shoulders? Legs? All wrong. The abdominals are the most important muscles in the body. In no particular order, they:
1) Protect the low back.
2) Are vital to sports performance, transferring power from the lower...

Where To Find Accurate Treadmill Ratings & Treadmill Reviews
by: Bob Hett
Let?s face it, buying a used treadmill is always going to be something of a gamble. For many people, the sticker price of new treadmills can be daunting. A very basic treadmill can start as little as $400, and the premium models with all the bells and whistles can be over $3000. So many people opt for a used or discount treadmill hoping to save some money.
But how do you know that the treadmill you are buying is a good one? One good way to find out if that used treadmill is going to be worth it is to do some homework. All the different brands of exercise equipment are not the same. Some are definitely of better quality than others. Read treadmill reviews and treadmill ratings for the brand of treadmill you are looking at purchasing. Chances are, if it has an excellent rating as a new piece of exercise equipment, it will also be a good used item, as well.

Should You Set Up Your Own Home Gym?
Should You Set Up Your Own Home Gym?
by: Andrew McNaught
Gyms are increasingly popular and as a result public facilities are usually stretched to the limit and as a result offer poor service leaving most users frustrated. Then there are those people who are just not comfortable working out in a public setting. The result is that they usually get very uncomfortable in the gym and are not able to work out enough. Still there are those who prefer to go into the high initial cost of purchasing exercise equipment knowing fully well that in the long term it will end up being a lot cheaper than the increasingly high gym memberships being charged.
These are just three of the most compelling reasons why somebody would want to set up their own home gym. The truth is that home gym can be a good investment for anyone wanting to set up one in their basement or workout room.
A good place to start when looking for equipment for your home gym is with...
